I have been fully on working from home mode since Feb 2021 and the last time I went to office was before the Chinese New Year this year. Our management decided to continue working from home as it is much more flexible and safer this way. That is why I am so glad that we decided to set up a home office back in January.

1. I work better with two screens

I work much better with two screens instead of one especially during my report research writing. My go to laptop will always be my Macbook Pro and my second laptop is the husband's Asus ROG which connected well with our 32" LG monitor. I have tried to connect my Macbook before but I didn't like it as much. So, two screens it is!

2. Ergonomics Gaming chair saved my back

I remember working and sitting on the dining chair or the bed and suffered a terrible back pains for days. So, I am glad that we decided to invest in proper ergonomic gaming chair that I can used daily without suffering the pains from bad postures. In case you are wondering, our gaming chair is from TT Racing and this is the one that we bought.

3. Note taking and research reading using iPad 8th Generation & Apple pencil

Other than investing in good chair and monitor, I also bought an iPad around March this year and followed by Apple pencil to help with my research paper reading and note taking. I have to confess that I really love taking note using this iPad and Apple pencil. I even started digital planning soon after. However, I still continue using my usual journal for daily task and reminder etc.

4. Scented candles and essential oils to get me in the 'Productive mood'

I am no stranger to scented candles and essential oils. I love anything that helps to lift up my mood and one of them is calming and soothing scents. My favourite scented candles to get me into the productive mood would be Wild Wave by Nyala and Warm Vanilla Sugar by Bath & Body Works. As for essential oils, I love the combination of Lemon and Peppermint EO to lift my mood especially in the morning.

5. Last but not least, a Work From Home Playlist!

Other than good and calming scents, I also love playing my WFH playlist on the background while I'm working. My absolute favourites would be this one and this also. On other day I may change my music to the old songs or even to KPOP depending on my mood. However, mostly I will be playing a lofi music in the background.

That's all for my work from home essentials and equipment that I'm using to ease my works. Sometimes I don't need much and can work using only my Macbook but sometimes I do need more. I have been trying to cultivate better routine to ensure that I can stay productive especially when the procrastination mood comes crashing. Hope you enjoy this write up and do comment below if you have any WFH essentials and equipments that you could not live without. x

I love writing my Money Diaries series; especially my previous (and only!) two posts. However, in the midst of writing my April's content, I found myself to be in a very privilege place to even brag about all the things that I am still able to afford. While, there are so so so many people out there that is struggling, even to a point of depression and succumbing to self harm and suicide. Its makes me reflect about myself.

I did not come from a well-off family. We always have money problem. A year ago, I was struggling - very very hard. My saving's gone, I took a loan, I even borrowed from a kind-hearted friends who's very kind and helpful to lend me some money to make it into the month end. When Covid19 hits, my previous company was affected so badly and our salary was affected as well. It was so bad.

I am lucky that I managed to find a better job that offer well while I move to be with my husband. I work very hard and try to get as many side income that I can while juggling with work. Again, I am very lucky that my current job allows me to be more flexible especially in work timing so that I can keep hustling for extra income. I even used up all the available Government aids to help me to restore my savings. Its worked for me and I am finally in a place that I know that I am very privileged. Especially, to still have work and side incomes during this challenging time.

I know where I came from and I have never forgotten that. I remember all the kind helps that I have received before and I will never forget that as well.

With that being said, please note that I will not be writing my monthly financial diaries anymore. I would rather share it in different type of post or advise etc that I deemed alright without me feeling so much guilts.

Till then x

I thought I try this update post things where I update about what I have been up to - except that it's in monthly edition. This is nothing new but I kind of inspired from fellow Sabahan blogger Lenne with her 5 things monthly. So, let's get into it!

1. Finding out that I have Cervical Fibroids

Earlier in July, I was diagnosed with Ovarian cyst through routine scan. Its was quite shocking for me because the cyst was huge about 7.6cm x 6cm during that time. I was pretty anxious and by early August, we went to see the specialist and the doctor confirmed that it was a cervical fibroids instead and I can only remove it next year. To be honest, I did not have any symptoms prior to knowing that I have fibroids except that my period pain was quite intense all the while since I was a teen. So, if you do have unusual painful period pain, I do advise you to seek medical advice and treatment from the doctor.

2. Still working from home

Our management was very understanding enough that we are still allowed to work from home even though Labuan already move into Phase 4 in National Recovery Plan. Although another staff has requested to start working from office due to his lack of productivity - he said, not me, while I have requested my boss to work from home at least until next year since we do not need to do much at the office anyway.

3. Dining out for the first time since MCO 3.0

Labuan went into Phase 3 and Phase 4 within a month due to reaching the first 92% adults being vaccinated and low numbers of cases within a month. So, to celebrate our good efforts during MCO 3.0, we finally went out to dine-in and show off our vaccination digital cert hehe. This time, I finally succumbed to my craving and went to eat Ngiu Chap (Beef noodle).

4. Crazy works month

It's actually could be less crazy if I did not procrastinate in earlier months but things happened lol. My work loads has tremendously increased as we added another new staff into our team. It was supposed to help to reduce my workload but due to so many delays, we need to catch up before the year end. So, I have been working diligently and napping frequently as well haha.

5. Updating the blog again

Yes, of course. If you have read my previous blog post here then you know that I only just recently updated my blog after months of absent. I was determined to continue blogging despite taking a break from both blog and Youtube a few months ago.

6. New Blogger theme

Also another reason why I was so determine is because I bought a new theme for my blog! Aha. This time I bought from Underline Designs on Etsy. They were having 15% sales and I thought that I needed some refreshment and motivation to blog as well. If you are wondering why my blog looks very plain without the Instagram plugin', it is because I have decided to go private. So, there will be no Instagram update for now unless you have followed me personally.

7. Celebrated my 32nd birthday

Yours truly turned 32 on the 28th. I was in celebratory mood that we decided to celebrate for 2 days straight. We had a lovely dinner the night before and another lovely lunch date the next day! I did not wish for anything this year except for a good health, good financial status and hopefully that we can have our little mini us by next year.

8. Enjoying the Phase 4 in Labuan

It was great to finally be able to dine in and enjoy the outdoors more after being cooped up for many months. I will be working from home at least until next year so I truly needed the 'time-out' whenever I feel suffocated inside the house. Even just by going out to buy grocery or running some errands. So, as August goes, I am pretty much content and happy to be able to go out again.

There you go! All the things that I have been up to for the month of August. Its was truly nice to able to dine-out or even go out to the beach and enjoy the fresh breeze. Hopefully other states will soon recover as well and able to go into the next phase successfully. x

Hey guys! Its has been a hot minutes since my last update and I thought of writing some updates just to clear some things up. In case some has been wondering how am I doing while trying to survive this extended lockdown period in Malaysia. Although, I am happen to live in Labuan at the moment and we will start rolling into Phase 4 in National Recovery Plan today!

Completed my Covid-19 Vaccination

I have completed my vaccination back in the end of June and have been enjoying the extra *protections* plus still complying to SOPs since then. I am glad the vaccination process has been speed up in Labuan due to the high daily cases back in May - June and we have manage to reached the herd community by end of July. I hope everyone will still comply to SOPs and those who haven't got their vaccine yet to go and get it asap.

So, I'll share some of my symptoms post-vaccination as below (if you're wondering, I got Pfizer, not that I cares much as long as it's a vaccine):
  • 1st dose
    • Flu and slightly increase of basal temperature 8 hours after vaccination
    • Increased of appetite
    • Soreness at the jab area
    • Nothing like carbs and a good sleep can't fix!
  • 2nd dose
    • I feel fine at the earliest hours and I was so damn excited about it
    • Fever broke in the middle of the night; I was feverish
    • All-over-body aches like I have been hit by the damn truck for the whole next day
    • Vomit - but I think it was due to other reason
    • All symptoms went down by day 3 except for the soreness at the jab area - that took about 5 days to go away

New Skincare Products

Oh yeah, I have been collecting some new skincare to try on as my skin is not behaving nicely anymore. I blame it on the hormones. Below are some products that I have recently added to my skincare and body care stash!

  • Hada Labo Gyokujun Premium Toner/Essence
    • At first I was surprised with this toner or essence consistency. It was thick and only few tiny drops is enough for my face. It's slightly has an oily feeling but it works superb on my dry skin.
  • Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
    • I'm no strangers with this product. I have used it few times and decided to go back to it again when my usual sleeping mask gel is not in stock. Again, work extremely well for my skin.
  • Kayman Skintella Repairing Serum
    • I have read tons of good review of this product online. Be it on blog or even on Twitter. Decided to buy it and give it a try. I've only been using it twice so far and I may write a different post about it later.
  • 3W Clinic Intensive UV Sunblock Cream
    • Again, another hot product on TikTok. A lots of people rave about how good and affordable this is. Only use it once for now and may write a different blog post about it later.
  • Rosken Probiotic Cream
    • The only body care product on this list. I have always love Rosken. Most of my body lotion is from Rosken so I know that this is going work wonderfully for me. Due to hormonal change, my skin including my whole body has become extremely dry. Some parts of my body become too dry and itchy and now inflame. *cries* Luckily I saw someone shared this product online and I have been using it ever since. If you have eczema or psoriasis, I will totally recommended this lotion to you.

Taking a break from Social Media

Due to my nature of works, I am unable to cut the chain from the social medias - Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc. Plus, I tend to over-binged everything and it has taking its toll on me. Earlier in August, I was so devastated with the local Malaysian artist - Siti Sarah who passed away due to Covid and have to undergo emergency caesarean to save her baby. Unfortunately, she could not make it and I took it so badly that my anxiety went rampant for days! I was so affected that I cried for days. Then, I decided to turn off my social medias for few days to calm myself. Every now and then, I occasionally took some breaks and only allow screen time once or twice a day. This work for me, for now.

I hope I am able to be active in blogging again as I'm currently taking a break from vlogging on Youtube. There's just too much things on my plate that I don't think I can carry or do alone. Hence explains the long hiatus and so on.

Still, thank you for reading my blog. Till then x

Happy Sunday love! It has been a while since my last Sunday Favourites as I have been superb busy with work and basically life. Fret not, today I will be sharing my recent favourites with all of you. Hope you enjoy this post and please leave a comment so I would know.

AirPods Pro 2020

I finally got myself an AirPods Pro! I have been having problem with my wireless Bluetooth earphone and decided to invest on a better one. Hence, I choose the Airpod Pro 2020 edition. I am so freaking in love with it, especially the noise cancellation and how seamless and effortless it is to change between my iPhone and my Macbook when I'm listening to musics, editing video or even watching movie. This is one of the best purchase that I have made in 2021, apart from my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Cute Airpods Pro Cases

I bought two cute cases for my Airpod from Shopee. Both are cheap but function well and look damn cute af! I'm currently using the Starbucks case on my airpod to avoid it from scratches and whatnot. Ain't it look cute and superb adorable?!

ESR Brand Phone Cases

One of the best phone cases brand that I have found in Shopee! I have three ESR cases as of now and I really love the quality and the price tag. It is only about RM20-ish or less during sales. The quality of ESR brand cases is in par with those case that came with RM80~RM100+ price tag. It is very protective and durable as it's also not slippery. The only downside is that it did not have many design choice apart from simple and minimal one.

Haidilao Soup Base for Steamboat

I bought mine from this Shopee shop here. Gosh, it was so delicious and we are having BBQ and steamboat at home more frequently now. I love the original soup base and also the mushroom one. Normally, one package of the soup will be enough for two session (for two-three pax per session) and it is only for RM7~ish (also depend on which shop you go for) as I always pick the one with free shipping above RM10/RM15 hehe

You can check out my unboxing video and also our steamboat and BBQ session here in my recent vlog:

That is all for this Sunday's favourite and thank you for reading. x

Hello hello and welcome back to my monthly 'Money Diaries' where I need to be accountable for everything that I have done right and wrong in my personal finance. *cough* I have good and not so good news in February - the month of Chinese New Year, Valentine's day and my significant other' birth month. It's the month that I was expecting for huge spending and so much more.

Every Chinese New Year, we will always go back to the mister's hometown and celebrate with his family there. Ever since we got married, which is last year, we have concluded that we need at least RM1K for angpao(s) or red packet distribution amongst family members. I have pre-set the amount, each varies depending on status and age. We also always give an extra for the close family members such as my parent in laws, sister in laws and of course the nephew and nieces.

For 2021, we did actually plan to go back for a week during the holiday. Unfortunately, the mister has become a close contact with his colleague who's tested positive for Covid-19 and have to undergo 10 days quarantine. Plus, the big family at hometown decided to withhold any big celebration as it is not allowed by SOP. So, we pretty much save up 1K (this will be save for next year then!)

Alright next, remember that I have decided to refill back my emergency fund? Yeap, I finally did it last month. I was supposed to be able to complete it by March or April but I have received the KWSP interim RM1K and I have put it in the emergency fund. Yay! Now that my emergency fund is completed, I can finally start to tackle my debts one by one. Wish me luck!

Here's to summarize my February's yay and nay(s):

The YAY of February!

  • Finally hitting the 2K amount of emergency fund
  • Invested in another gold purchases - the price hit very low last month due to CNY promo, so I took a chance hehe
  • I've spend lesser than I thought I would be for CNY celebration, Valentine's day and the husband's birthday celebration - all thanks to 10 days quarantines!
  • Increased of side income by 15% - I took extra works in February and am so glad!

The NAY of February!

  • By the title, you already know that I have spend more than RM500 for The Sims games that I have purchased online via Origin. I loved my the sims games and previously I just downloaded the pirated copy online. Since I want it on my Macbook as well, I decided to splurge a little. *oops*
  • We went out for grocery shopping every week and cost us about RM100 or more at a time - I would really love to cut down this amount to less than RM100 and try out how much I can save using grocery delivery.
  • My monthly subscription(s) is starting to burdened me - not exactly to the point that I don't have money to pay it but I would love to terminate some of it. I need to cut where's necessary - let me do this in March!
I'm really looking forward for March as I'm going to do some investment purchase and also clearing small debts at least by 20% or more, if I could. Other than that, I'm quite happy for doing OK in February and hope March will be better. x

With Covid-19 daily cases have tremendously increase to crazy 5K numbers, I no longer put any hope that this MCO 2.0 will be over soon. That also means that I will be in 'working from home' mode for quite awhile; maybe for the year of 2021 - who knows, right!

On normal work from home days (pre-home office setup), I will work from the dining table and sat on the dining chair which is very uncomfortable. It is because our dining chair is made of wood and not ergonomic at all. I even bought a small table for me to work on the bed and invest in good quality of wireless mouse but my back and neck still suffered from the long hours of work. The only good thing come out from all these stiffness is that I started to do yoga again, which is to stretch all the sore points.

So, I had a productive discussion with the husband - giving him my pros and (less) cons for setting up our home office. He was surprisingly very OK with my plan. Probably because I plan to split the bills 50/50. We did our round of research on good ergonomic chair - gaming chair preferable because the husband will use this setup for his gaming time and also good monitor that serve as normal monitor and our TV. Here's our cost breakdown for each purchase for our home office setup:

We could save a little bit more if we have better option available. Unfortunately, due to MCO 2.0, the postage to Labuan is either non-existing or too expensive; plus the risk of good being damage during transit is too high. We are also unable to go back to Sabah, so we have very limited choice IRL. *sniff* Apart from my multi dock adapter for my macbook, we purchased the rest of the items from a local Tech shop in Labuan. Sadly they do not have the adapter in stock, hence why I have to buy it online instead.

All in all, we are very happy with our purchase and our setup. This time around, we do not need to buy a study table because it is already available in our furnished apartment so we save around RM300 there. The husband decided to upgrade his gaming station and bought a joystick too. I have no complain about that because I know I will be using it as well. (as soon as I know how haha)

After splitting the bills, each of us contribute RM1K+ for this setup. I hope with this home office setup, I can be more productive and no more procrastinating, especially during editing. I truly believe that this setup is a very good investment for both physical and mental well being for us. Anyway, I'm starting a new monthly series in this blog called 'Money Diaries' - I will be writing about my financial goal and investment; as well as trying to stick to budget etc. Hope you guys will like this!

Happy Sunday loves! What are you up to this weekend during lockdown? I had productive weekend deep-cleaning the house, finalizing some design edit and weekend sweats session. I promised myself to stay active while we are under Movement Control Order (MCO) 2.0 and so far so good! So, for today I'm going to share my four current favourites that I'm very well obsessed with.

Becoming a plant mom

Well, I am a plant mom before but it is different now since I have moved here. My previous plants are still okay and alive under my little sister's care - hopefully. So, I have bought two plants which are the typical "money plant" or most well known as Pothos and also Calathea orbifolia. Supposedly both plants are quite easy to take care but I have killed a Pothos before so I'm not sure, yet. Anyway, I am still happy that I finally have some plants at this new place.

New Crystals arrives!

If you are not well aware about my crystals obsessions, then you should know it by now. I love crystals. They have helped me in a way that I could not even imagine. So, I have a new batch of crystals come in last week. I have been waiting for these babies since end of the year and to finally hold them in my hands feels very surreal. So, here is some crystals that I got for myself. I will not disclose other crystals coz I'm very private and if you are crystal user then you will understand the why.

Scented candle Nyala HQ by Azhar Azheri

The scented candles - Nyala HQ by Azhar have been in my wishlist as long as I can remember. Ever since they have sold out on their launch day, I have been waiting for the restock and finally bought it by end last year. I have bought two scented candles which are Lavender Silk and Wild Wave. Let me tell you how obsessed I am with both scents! I usually light up Wild wave in the living room whenever I'm working from home. While I light up Lavender silk in the bedroom and the scents will linger until the next day. I definitely want to try the other scent for my next purchase.

Pilot Juice up 0.4 pen

Last but not least, my latest stationery obsession is none other than the Pilot Juice up pen in 0.4mm. I have bid my goodbyes with my Muji 0.38mm gel pen and patting myself for buying extra for this pen. What I love about this pen? Everything! The smoothness, the fast-drying ink and so many more. I'm using this pen for my daily work and also for my bullet journaling. I think I will need to restock more, soon.

That is all for my Sunday Favourites series today and I hope everyone stay safe and stay at home to curb the spreading of virus. See you guys in my next post! Till then, x

Hey loves! Hope it is still not too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great New year celebration while adhering to SOPs. If you have watched my recent vlog, then you know that I had a blast even though we did not managed to go back to our hometown this year.

This year, I would like to start sharing my goals of the year - again. I have omitted this sort of resolutions-ish list in many years because it seem so hard to achieve it. Since I only have 3 goals this year and it is truly seem like do-able, so I've decided to share it.

Healthy lifestyle - stay active!

I know, so cliché right?! But I have decided to make my health as priority this year as we will be focusing in TTC (Trying-to-conceive, for those who doesn't know). If you notice, I did not put specific goal like "lose weight" etc because I know that the weight will come off once I choose a better lifestyle. Both the mister and I had started exercising and portion-control this week. Hopefully there will be a good news soon! *fingers crossed*

Clear Easy Debts

Hah?! Pretty controversial word - debts. With family planning on-the-way, surely we want more financial freedoms to ensure that we can afford to raise our family. So, clearing some overdue and easy debts will be one of my goals this year. Truth to be told, even for an easy debts, the total amount is almost RM5K. Efk! It will be very nice if I can clear this off and not adding anymore debts! I need to focus and manifest more.

Save up for Emergency Fund + Small Investment

2020 had shown me how important it is to have an emergency fund. Although it's now had dried up due to uncertain times last year, it is now a time to refill the fund again. I have set up two types of savings this year and planning to add another one (which I still need to recalculate..but so far so good). Apart from that, I also would like to try to invest in small investment such as gold. If you know any good one, please do not hesitate to let me know as I'm still doing my research.

So, that's for my 2021 goals. I told you I only have 3 and I hope I can achieve all three before or by end of 2021. Do you set any goals for this year? Despite the crazy times that we had in 2020? Please share in the comment below.
